Lost & Fawned

If you haven’t see Ordinary Mommy Faith’s shop, you are in for a treat!  Faith creates the most adorable felt necklaces, headbands and barrets in delicious colors.  The little blossom hairpins are a personal favorite of mine.

Lucky for us, Faith needs to make room in her shop for new fall pieces and she has graciously offered Lost & Fawned readers a 15% discount on anything in her shop when you include the code “Lost & Fawned” in the message to seller upon purchase!  Discount code is good until August 23rd.

So treat yourself or someone else to a little something special to adorn your hair or body from Ordinary Mommy’s shop!  Here are some of my picks…

I am so pleased to start the week with a lovely giveaway!  What better way to get the week going?

Sasha of the Gilded Bee has provided this week’s winner with a $35 gift certificate for papers goods from her shop as well as a runner-up prize of either a set of butterflies or 5 boxes!

If I could enter I would totally be taking home a package of red and green flowers, pillow boxes, tags and twine to save for this holiday season!  Or maybe some beautiful pastel, feminine colors to save to wrap gifts for showers.  Or maybe even some little flowers from the bud vases on my desk so I can have colorful flowers all year round!

Sasha’s beautiful work has recently been featured in both Martha Stewart Weddings and Brides Magazine!  She is a paper-genius and was kind enough to answer a few of my burning questions.

Q. Outside of your amazing paper treasures, what else do you create?
I sew. I’ve made a lot of hats, handbags and clothes for myself and some others,
I cook/bake things from scratch everyday. Sometimes I paint and draw.
I am a jewelry maker/wire sculptor/beader. I do needlework, crocheting etc.
I dye things, and print textiles. I have done a lot of different types of things.

Q. You are such a packaging diva! What is your favorite new packaging trend for autumn?
Well, they’re not “new” however, I’ve totally fallen in love with Japanese and patterned tape and fabric tape–I love those :).
Other things:
Super-fancy-off-the-beaten-track wrapping papers from companies such as Egg Press, Snow and Graham, Elum, and Smock.
Alternative ribbons–such as paper twine/paper ribbons, or strips of vintage floral fabric.

Q. Any new product lines on the horizon for the Gilded Bee?
Oh, yes! :) I’m always trying to create something new.
I am working on miniatures (animals/birds etc.), DIY and gift wrap and favor Kits, mini calenders, things to wear, all sorts of things, my imagination always moves faster than my hands can make things.

Two of my biggest weaknesses, bags and jewelry.  Rennes does it so so so right.  Simple, functional and beautiful.  Her eye for textiles is amazing and all of the bags are perfectly classic and could be used for years (I can see them being a bag a future granddaughter would find 40 years from now and want to use).  Take a peek at her website and etsy shop for more beautiful bag and things.

Speaking of granddaughters, I have some pictures of some beautiful antiques my grandma sent home with me last weekend.  I’ll be posting those later today.

Well, I just got word Logan does need surgery and is going in right now for it.  I’m worried, nervous and distracted.  Around 4 we’ll be able to call for an update on how it went.  I hope they can get it all out and he’ll be good as new.

No matter what we’ll be able to pay for his hospital bills, but I feel a little responsible for this mess.  As you may know we are also looking to buy a house this fall and this hospital visit is certainly putting a dent in our savings.  I’m hoping to pay for as much of the bill as possible through shop sales.

SO in both Lost & Fawned and Lost & Fawned HOME I’m having a “Name Your Price” sale.  It’s easy!  Convo me and name your price on any item.  I will be accepting all reasonable offers that cover supplies, labor and a tiny extra.  You know you can’t resist those big brown puppy eyes (wink wink).

Thanks for all the good wishes.  I know it’s so silly, but Logan is my baby right now.  I’ll be sure to let you know how he’s doing.

This is by no means a charity sale.  This is an emergency sale to help our family stay on track to reach our goal of owning a home this fall. All sales this week are going toward Logan’s hospital bills.

My good friend and fellow blogger Evita is the most creative and fabulous person I know.  Recently she opened an etsy shop and is making gorgeous floral bib necklaces.  Naturally they are meticulously designed and handmade to the highest standard.  I love the embroidered detail of the bird on this one.

She also writes a beautiful blog The Happy Heathen.  Did I mention she had the most inspiring and highly detailed wedding I’ve ever seen?  Check out the photos here.

I love this ring.  I mean I LOVE my engagement ring and wedding band, but I think this ring is so clever.  I think it would be a great ring to wear instead of my wedding set if we ever traveled or when I have my ring in for it’s check up or cleaning.  Even if I was doing something like gardening or doing something that would make me nervous to wear my real diamond (I’m still paranoid and I’ve been wearing the thing for over 3 years now).  The little matching posts are super cute too.

Sorry for the blabbering post.  I’m kind of all over the place today, in a good way.  Happy Friday everyone!

I’m not feeling 100% today and so I’m blogging from bed this morning.  It’s so warm and comfy I wish I could stay here (and I wish Jared didn’t have to go to work and could be here too).

While we’re on the subject of comfy beds, you need to check out the handmade linens at PataPri.  She hand prints on quadruple 100% cotton gauze fabrics that have the most beautiful cozy, worn and wrinkled texture.  Plus her colors and patterns are beautiful.  My favorites are the ocean pillowcase set.

Since I post a cute thing on Monday I will now be posting a clever thing on Thursday.

I love manila inventory tags.  I think this little note book by Erinzam is so cute and clever to jot down grocery lists or phone numbers.  Take inventory of everyday things in your manila inventory tag notebook.  And with 200 pages and it’s teeny tiny size it’s perfect to throw in your purse.
