So this weekend I bought a dress. It doesn’t seem like a big deal, but I have been in the midst of a quarter-life clothing identity crisis for awhile now. My body and life has changed since college and my wardrobe has paid the price. Since I didn’t really know how to dress my body anymore and I’ve been fighting with my style, I haven’t bought a full priced dress since we purchased my wedding dress.
But this weekend while waiting for a table at our favorite local restaurant, Flip Side, we wandered into Green Roots Collection and this dress caught my eye. Jared also commented it was ‘cute’, so I tried it on. And it looks good. I felt really good in it. In the end, I didn’t actually have to pay full price for it, since they were running an unadvertised sale, $15 off if you try something on.
So to cut to the chase, I’m planning on wearing this dress to two outdoor weddings/receptions this month (2 different groups of people, so no one will notice I’m wearing this look twice). How would you wear it? With flats? Tights? A cardigan? What color? Jewelry? I do plan on wearing my hair down. There is a little red in the pattern. You can see and close up of the fabric here.

Adorable! I think it’s a great practice to never buy things full-price.
I think it would be adorable with flats, a chunky statement necklace and bright red lips.
:)
Thanks! I’m leaning toward flats since both the ceremony will be in grass at one wedding and the reception at the other wedding is in a barn. How I wish I could pull off a red lip. Since I have a round face, I tend to look like a little girl who got into mommy’s make-up when I wear a strong lip.
That’s a cute dress! Personally I tend to think tights dress an outfit down, though I’m not sure why, so I’d wear it with bare legs if it wasn’t too cold to go without. If the sash is removable, I think it would be super cute with a red patent leather skinny belt to pop the red in the pattern. I’d probably wear it with heels to dress it up, and since you say it’s outdoors/barn I’d try to do a platform wedge so my heels wouldn’t sink. Maybe a big necklace?
I think it would be super cute to dress down, too! With tights and some tall boots, I love the Frye Paige Tall Riding Boot, that or something like it with a cozy cardigan would be crazy cute.
Love the idea of dressing it down. Maybe for thanksgiving with a cardigan, tights and my riding boots (I wish they were Frye, but I have a trust pair I have been wearing for 5 years).
So many neat ways to dress up the dress! My sister has a good eye for fashion and she suggests wearing the dress with tights and ankle brown small heeled boots and a brown belt. Since you’ll be wearing it to a couple events you have options on how you will pull it off! All the best.
