Lost & Fawned

A couple of weeks ago, you met some of my sponsors.  Today I’d like to introduce you to Amy of The Peach Tree.  Amy has been creating and selling handmade gemstone jewelry on Etsy since 2008 and has 1000′s of happy customers to show for it.  I especially love her natural stone jewelry and Blue Goldstone, night sky inspired jewelry.

What is your favorite current trend?

Though I have yet to dive into this trends myself, I’m really loving statement collars. Specifically, the peter pan variety. I love when fashion takes a huge step back and innovates it for the present. It gives the illusion of living in a simpler time.

What article of clothing or trend are you most looking forward to this autumn?

I recently moved to the valley in upstate New York so I’m most looking forward to layering and heavy sweaters! It never seemed to get cold enough in the city for this. I have a feeling I won’t be having that problem this fall and winter! I’m also loving the Olympian Blue, Rhapsody and Honey Gold from Pantone’s Fall 2012 Color Report.

Current favorite color and why…

My mother sent over a big box of my childhood things last month. I leafed through report cards, diaries, play scripts and came to this collection from my 1st grade class on what we loved and our future, etc. When asked what my favorite color was, I had said Black. Of all colors! Now, when asked that questions, I can never give an answer I’m happy with. I love all colors! Oh, but kelly green does not love me.. I’m not sure why it’s holding a grudge.

What led you to make jewelry?

Strange as it may sound, this was a New Year’s Resolution gone great. I resolved to do something new that year, took a few classes at the local Bead Shop in Brooklyn and I was instantly hooked. I opened up my Etsy shop late January 2008 and never looked back :)

What’s your favorite thing about owning your own business?

Running your own business is an amazing (and terrifying) thing. I think I’ll turn to Monty Python for some great advice (and something I think of often when dealing with a difficult decision):

“Then you must cut down the mightiest tree in the forest… with… a herring!”
