Today I took a leap. I have been looking for something to motivate me to whip this place in to shape and I found it. I am finally making the leap to a completely self hosted site. For years I have been looking into going this route, but it was such a daunting task to seamlessly go from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. I wanted to make sure all my content made the trip over and I didn’t want to displace any of my existing readers.
So, this morning I did my homework and purchased a guided transfer service from wordpress. I’m currently sitting and waiting for the “happiness engineer” to contact me to get this ball rolling. It should take roughly 2 weeks, but you shouldn’t notice too many differences at first. What it will allow me to do is bring my readers lost of new content, get rid of the wordpress ads and customize the site to be everything it should be.
I’m not sure when exactly the site will move completely from one to the other, but it shouldn’t affect you as the reader (if it does affect the way you read Lost & Fawned, please contact me at sendlindseymail@gmail.com so I can address it).
I’ll be sure to post a review of the transfer after it’s finished so those of you who are considering it can hear my experience. Send happy thoughts my way! Lots of new features on the horizon!
good for you :) happy self hosting!
