Siding is going up today!  While I try to stay out of the way (all I want to do is sit in the yard and watch the transformation, but I’m sure I’m driving the crew nuts) I’m toiling over a pile of paint swatches.  At the last minute we went with a siding color that has a bit more gold in it (it’s just a little warmer).  I love it, especially with the heavy white trim.

Yesterday I took some of the top choices out to see how they looked in the sun.  I’m totally stuck.  I always wanted a yellow door.  But about a year ago, the idea of orange started to stick.  And then when I was working on our mock-ups the thought of a minty blue door with christmas greens in winter made my heart flutter.

But I can’t seem to translate the color of blue I have in my head to a swatch.  Everything is either too light, too dark, too green, too pastel, too something…  I can’t pin-point it.

I think Sea Glass is the closest, but still too green perhaps.  The other two blues are just bleh.

I do love the yellow and orange in the photo above.  But I’m still not sure.  I just can’t seem to settle on a color.  I think once I get siding up on the proper side of the house I’ll try again.  I can’t decide if I should scrap the idea of blue or keep trying to find that hue in my head.

What color is your front door?  How did you commit to a color?
