At a pretty amazing sale (the same one we found that industrial tool chest) Jared and I picked up this unassuming little ottoman for only $3. It’s the perfect height for a nightstand next to our super low Malm bed. Originally I had planned to just re-finish the legs and upholster right over the existing blue fabric. When I went to remove the legs I noticed a little hint of marigold yellow peeking out from under the top layer. Curiosity got the best of me and I started pulling out each and every tack to find out what was hiding under the blue.
After that layer was gone I noticed some orange and olive hiding below the yellow. Yet again I found myself removing rows of tacks.
None of the fabric is in very good shape (or to my liking), but it was fun to peel away each layer and see a different side to the stool. As I type it’s sitting in the shed with stripping gel on the legs. I have ordered some simple fabric to re-cover the top (I don’t want to give too much away until it’s finished). I think it will make a perfect wide modern nightstand when it’s all finished. Big enough for a lamp, books, magazines and cup or water and low enough to reach everything easily.
After photos coming next week.

I know you are all probably tired of this song, but you can’t deny the girl has pipes. And the video is quite beautiful.
