As if I need another project right now, right? Well going from a small apartment to a house means we have new rooms and no furniture for them. I know we will fill the house up over time, but there are a few things that would be nice to have sooner, rather than later. One of those things is for the largest rooms in the house, our shared office. In addition to our 2 desks, we want to create a lounge space with a daybed. A comfortable place to hang out by day and an extra place for someone to sleep at night.
The first catalog that showed up in our mailbox at the new house was West Elm and of course I fell in love with their nailhead upholstered bed frame in natural. While it would be nice to have $350 plus shipping and a mattress, it’s just not in the cards right now. After seeing this post on Manhattan Nest last year, the gears have been turning in my head. And seeing as the FJELLSE bedframe in a twin is only $29.99, it’s WELL within our price range (plus an ikea mattress). I’m thinking upholstered in natural linen with brass nail heads and walnut stained legs it could look really luxe.
It will end up being a project we will do while we work on the upstairs (did I mention we will be moving in before the upstairs is finished and working on it while living there?). Naturally there will be photos and a post on my experience.
PS: The sanding is finished! Jared and I are going to be cleaning all the sawdust out of the house today and will be putting the first coat on the floors tomorrow. We will be cutting it pretty close since we are moving in one week (holy cow!). Wish us luck!
