I love that colors this rich occur in nature. Put them in a clean white bowl and it only makes them that much more vibrant.

This weekend I became a fan of Vivian Maier. Who is Vivian Maier? No one really knows. Well we don’t know much about her. Her work was discovered by John Maloof in an abandoned storage locker. He now has over 100,000 negatives, some still on the roll, never been seen by anyone. She was apparently a Mary Poppins-like nanny by trade and a street photographer in Chicago. Her story is unfolding slowly as John scans and uploads her photos on this blog.
I love a good mystery. And I love how the people in her photographs seem to have a story. Plus, the Chicago backdrop is making me long to visit my favorite big city again soon. I’m finding her body of work fascinating and hope she is someday recognized among the greats. Hopefully we can look forward to a book full her photos sometime in the not-so-distant future. I know it would grace our coffee table. Here are some of my favorites. All photos courtesy of John Maloof.
