Homeowners at Long Last (well almost)

As some of you know we have been on the hunt for our first home for quite awhile.  We have had a couple of heart breaks and learned so much.  But as of tonight it is likely the hunt is over.  Our bid was accepted and pending an inspection the house on Maple Street is ours.  I tend to be a little superstitious, so I have held off say anything about it until some paperwork was signed but I’m now feeling confident that sometime in January (yes we will be moving in the dead of a cold Ohio winter) we will be moving into our first home.

To celebrate (maybe prematurely but the sale ends tomorrow) I purchased this papercut print from Elsita.  Until tomorrow it’s on sale for $15 (down from $25) along with many other prints.  I think it will be a perfect addition to our new entry way.

It’s late, and it’s been a long and stressful day.  I’m finally off to bed now.  And maybe I’ll even get some sound sleep.  See you tomorrow.

  1. L! OMG! One! Eleventy!!!!!

  2. Oh that is so exciting!!!!! A new house has to be one of the most exciting things….EVER. I’m so pumped for you guys! And it made me smile to hear the street name. I grew up on a house on “Maple Street” and it’s so charming sounding, isn’t it? Also…I love Elsita’s paper cuts – I’ve been obsessed with her work! It will look gorgeous in your newwwwww home!

    • I think the address really rolls of the tongue right. 86 Maple Street. It couldn’t be cuter.

And YES. I think this piece by Elsita will be just perfect to welcome guests.

  3. Hooray! It’s definitely an exciting (and a little bit nerve-wracking) time!

    • A little bit nerve wracking, but you know I actually slept really well last night. The biding process was VERY quick in comparison to other houses we have bid on. We got it at a fantastic price and there really isn’t a whole lot of work to be done. Moving in January in Ohio is less than desirable, but at least we will be in a home and have all winter to plan out what to do with the yard.

  4. Woooohoooooo!!!!!! Yeah! Such fantastic news!

  5. Yay! I can unwind now. ;) I have on of Elsita’s prints on my ‘to buy’ list for Michael. I really should do it today.

    • You totally should before the sale ends! It’s actually a pretty huge savings. I showed Jared and he actually knew about Elsita before I did and loves her work, so I couldn’t help myself.

  6. CONGRATS!!!!

  7. Yay!
Congratulations! 10 years ago I went through the same experience that you’re going now.
The best part is making of your new house a home :) It takes time and love and it’s wonderful.
What an honor to know that my print will be one of the special objects in your home.
    Thanks a lot :)
Sending you all my best wishes!
    Elsita :)
