Lost & Fawned

I put together a little treasury this afternoon inspired by the colors, smells and textures I see on my way to and from work.  Autumn is so lovely here in northeast Ohio and I am fortunate enough to drive through some beautiful country on my way to work.  Right now the trees are really starting to take color and combine with the beautiful farms and wildlife it creates a warm, rustic atmosphere.

If you have a moment, please stop by the treasury and take a peek.  Comments, clicks and love are much appreciated.  The sellers certainly deserve it and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

I love Halloween.  I love it because it’s the first holiday of autumn and because it means pumpkin patches, candy corn (a once a year indulgence), costumes and creepiness.  I think vintage is the perfect way to decorate for Halloween without it looking cheesy or cheap.  Here are some of my picks for Halloween decor this year…

I’m a huge fan of vintage letterpress type and I think this little collection from Handmade by Allison.  It would be so cute on a side table as a subtle nod to Halloween.

Fill this beautiful black urn with orange mums, wheat and fall flowers for a dark harvest or blood red roses for a vampy, goth look.  You could also fill it with candy corn or another Halloween treat!  Wonderful, versatile Halloween piece from Zinnia Cottage (what a beautiful shop!).

Dig through your old family photos and find that mysterious photo no one really knows much about.  Slip it into your favorite frame and hang it in your entryway.  Don’t have a photo?  Adopt a relative like this one from Drawing Room.  Another subtle nod to the holiday and it’s origins.

Express your inner mad scientist and decorate your home with some vintage apothecary viles like these from Sweet Love Vintage.  They would be so fun on a nightstand or entryway table with some fall flowers or a skull.

Need a classy centerpiece for a Halloween get together?  This vintage black candelabra is it!  And the way AM radio styled it for this photo is perfection!  I wouldn’t change a thing!  If someone doesn’t take this home, I might have to.  I think it’s so beautiful and a bargain!

Happy Halloween everyone!  How are you decorating this year?
