I mentioned to someone else that when I travel I always bring my bright yellow headphones, but I don’t think they understood that I wasn’t fooling around when I said bright yellow. I got these headphones while I was writing my thesis (since retail therapy was my main vice to beat the stress) and wore them while I was in the lab to be a subtle signal to classmates that I was indisposed. I found they also worked pretty well on planes to give the same message to talkative seatmates.
I got mine at a bike store in Columbus, Ohio called Paradise Garage (stop in if you are ever in C-bus, they have great clothes and bikes) but you can get them online on WeSC’s website. I just saw the minty green ones and some of the patterned ones, but I’m not ready to replace my dandelion yellow ones quite yet.
The ever-fabulous Penny over at Penny Luxe posted about her flying necessities today and seeing as I have a trip coming up in the very near future I figured I would share a few of my travel accessories that get me through the flight from Ohio to Oregon (which I fly a few times a year).
I found this bag on etsy in Christy’s Shop quite some time ago and loved the utility of it. It is loaded with pockets and big enough to hold a decent sized laptop with room to spare. It’s well made with beautiful materials and of course is classically styled and doesn’t look like you are carrying your groceries around the airport. I own it in the Sahara Brown but I love it in the Dark Denim as well.
Did I mention the prices? You’ll need to see them for yourself to believe it. Shipping of course is a little steep and it does take some time to arrive (though it was quicker than most of my oversea’s purchases) but I found it more than worth it when the bag arrived.
Ever since I laid eyes on this bunny photo by This Years Girl on the front page of etsy I have been entranced with his charm and slight strangeness. I have a bunny myself (his name is Colonel Brandon) and he really is a very proud gent like the bun in this photo. Paired with the adorable lamb photo it would make a very sweet Easter gift. How perfect that they are running a BOGO sale in their shop right now.
This is my big weakness. I get the email in my inbox and it’s all over. J Crew is having another “take and extra 30% off” their final sale section sale. To top it all off you get free shipping when you spend $150. It’s a great time to stock up on crisp cotton tunics and button downs, denim jackets and your favorite basics for spring.
I’m going to have to resist this round, but if you are feeling the need make sure you use the “EXTRA30″ coupon code when you purchase. Check out the final sale section of the website for goodies that qualify for the sale.
Like I mentioned earlier I am eagerly awaiting and planning for warmer weather. I can’t wait for vintage leather sandals, tanks and t-shirts with interesting cuts and soft cottons and folk and nautical inspired jewelry.
So how about you. What is your must have clothing piece or accessory for spring/summer 2010? If you could get one piece to jazz up last years wardrobe, what would it be?
I would really like to feature some reader trends and get some new ideas for myself too.

I have been working on waking up last year’s summer wardrobe (which right now consists of lots of plain v-necks and scoop neck t-shirts, jeans and some other various pieces) with some new accessories that are affordable and current. I really would rather not buy a whole new wardrobe, but it always seems when the season changes I feel like I have nothing to wear.
So instead of spending a ton of cash on all new clothes I am trying to pick a few new pieces that are easy to weave into my wardrobe and don’t cost a fortune. After surfing people’s etsy “favorites” I happened across Thief & Bandit. I’m head over heels for their beautiful headbands, woven necklaces and screen printed t-shirts (that actually have some design to them rather than and image smack in the middle). Not to mention the prices are easy to work into a slim budget. I snapped up a couple pieces from them this morning and now will be eagerly waiting to come home and find a package from them. Check out their shop for more gorgeous summer piece.
With spring quickly approaching I am taking the first step in taking my blogging to the next level by moving on over to wordpress. Eventually I am hoping to host my blog and really have my own space, but that is still way ahead of me.
I do hope you will follow me over here as I will be posting new, beautiful content (but still much in the same taste and style) and have lots of adventures ahead of me as a young, creative newlywed. I am very open to suggestions for new topics and trends to discuss and will of course be posting lots of vintage eye candy and tid-bits about our little world and where life is taking us.
Check out the link at the top of the sidebar to add me to your feed and get updates on new posts.
Always.
